Tuesday, August 12, 2014: The incubation programme by Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is going to be revised and there are plans to have some more facilities which will be domain-specific. Start-ups will have a funding of Rs 100,000 million from the Centre and as told by director general Omkar Rai, STPI is looking at the revision of the incubation programme.
Rai further added that STPI is having 53 centres across the globe which offer plug-and-play facilities for small-scale companies as well as start-ups. STPI will definitely continue supporting existing units and there will be some more IT, ITES and electronic system design and manufacturing units too. Rai said, “We will roll out an electronic system incubation facility in association with the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, India Electronics and Semiconductor Association, and Delhi University.”
The experimental project will start from this year only and Delhi University campus is going to be the selected location for the same. Local industries’ IT needs are supposed to be met by STPI through their domain-specific incubation facilities. A portal for STPI will also be launched this year and as Rai said all services will be provided online thereafter.
