Wednesday, August 28, 2013: Even if India is currently struggling with its economic scenario there is one market which is rising instead of all the odds and that is country’s set-top box market. This report was recently revealed in a new research from 6Wresearch.
The analyst in the research firm established that the Indian set-top box market has recorded a total shipments of 5.6 million units in the second quarter of 2013, which is a big a consecutive rise of around 5 per cent. And the top three players in terms of driving the market growth comprised Skyworth that leads almost three-fifths of the market claiming the 38% of the total sales, while Cisco and Skynet follows with 11 per cent and 10 per cent respectively.
Talking about the technology the DVB-C type of set-top boxes witnessed the maximum of growth with compared with the previous quarter i.e. more than 12 per cent maturation in Q2 2013. The DVB-C type of set-top boxes now represents more than four-fifths of total unit shipments in the India set-top box market in CY Q2 2013. Although a noticable fact here is that the local STB production on the other hand are experiencing a the highest low with quarter-on-quarter decline of 60 per cent.
