Tuesday, December 03, 2013: Another logistic hub is originating in Sri City, which is an integrated business township in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. Over 100 companies have found place in the manufacturing and potentially warehousing centre, while a number of FMCG companies are in the middle of building their facilities.
Speculations are rife that a number of electronics and aerospace units may also crop up in the township that is located 55 kms away from Chennai.
Ramesh Subramaniam, who is the president of Sri City told Business Line recently that some major companies are homing in on the township because of is logistics-cum-warehouse facilities.
Folks from TATA Advanced Systems had visited Sri City recently to explore the possibility of setting up a warehouse for its chopper cabins. The report added that connected well with Chennai port, the hub offers an ideal location for companies to set up not only their manufacturing bases but also to have large distribution cum warehouse facilities.
Alstom may also supply to other regions and has set up a manufacturing facility for rail coaches for the Indian market.
