The streetlights in Bareilly will soon be powered by solar energy. This move is in accordance with the Bareilly development authority’s residential project: Ramganga Nagar Awasiya Yojana. For this project, the BDA is planning to set up solar panels of the capacity 50 KW.
“The installation of the solar panel for illuminating streetlights at Ramganga Nagar Awasiya Yojana is expected to be initiated this year. The estimated cost of setting up the solar panel is around Rs 50 lakh. Besides installation of solar panels at the awasiya yojna, plans are also afoot to set up a CNG filling pump in the area,” development authority secretary SP Singh to TOI.
“For this purpose, the Central Uttar Pradesh Gas Limited (CUGL) had recently conducted a survey of Ramganga Nagar to identify suitable land for setting up of the filling pump. We are currently awaiting a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the departments concerned such as—fire brigade and department of explosives,” Singh added.
According to the BDA officials, both the projects, solar powered streetlights and CNG pump at Ramaganga Nagar Awasiya Yojana will start in the current fiscal.
