Solar renewable energy certificate (REC) trading has surged in July 2018, while the non-solar REC trading has continued to decline. Total 1,382,632 solar RECs were traded in July. In the previous month 592,401 solar RECs were traded. The pricing of these RECs was Rs 1,000.
On the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), 417 entities participated in solar trading in July 2018, 23 more than the 394 that traded in June 2018. The Power Exchange India Limited (PXIL) registered 574,308 buy bids for solar RECs. PXIL earned a market share of more than 41% in solar REC trade.
In this session, the non-solar RECs were traded in two categories: RECs issued before April 1, 2017 and RECs issued after it. According to the latest ruling passed by the Supreme Court, the non-solar RECs issued on or after April 1, 2017 are to be sold at a price of Rs 1,000/ REC.
Non-solar REC trade continued to decline in July 2018. In the month of June total 3,03,828 non-solar RECs were traded and in July, total 235,437 Non-solar RECs were traded. Not a single non-solar REC issued on or after April 1, 2017 was traded.
