The Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) has surveyed all sites to be equipped with solar power. Vice-chancellor Ranjit Verma said to TNN that it was a new initiative to harness solar power for college campuses and it will help to save the university’s fund used for paying the electricity bill. He further added that all requirements will be made available by BREDA.
TNN reported that Registrar Col Vijay Kumar Thakur said, in the first phase, solar power will be given to 17 constituent colleges in five districts-Munger, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Khagaria and Jamui-besides the university headquarters.
He stated that there will be an arrangement to provide surplus solar power to the power distribution agency of BSEB, which will adjust its cost in the regular electricity bill sent to the university.
