Sodium-ion battery maker Faradion Ltd said that it is exploring the option of having a manufacturing presence in India for its batteries for diversified applications actively. The company has also received its first order from ICM Australia.
The company said in a statement that “India is one of the largest markets for mobile devices across the world. It added that recently, India had also demonstrated significant progress in the adoption of EV (Electric Vehicle) technology. This makes it a priority market for Faradion.
The world is looking out for alternatives to China-dependent Lithium-ion batteries. The company claimed that Faradion’s sodium-ion based technology offers a promising solution. It said that Faradion is actively exploring manufacturing presence in India for its Sodium-ion batteries for diversified applications.

James Quinn, Faradion CEO said that Australasia is the next logical region for the company given the market conditions. He added that Faradion is accelerating large scale industrialisation of its safe, low cost, sodium-ion energy storage technology. After Australia, the company foresees India as the next priority big market. This is due to the huge growth in mobile devices and a bigger electric mobility market waiting to grow rapidly.
