Engineering devices manufacturer Siemens India on Wednesday inaugurated a digitalised low-voltage switch-gear factory in Thane district in Maharashtra.Located at Kalwa town, the factory is estimated to manufacture over five million switch-gear devices that come in 180 variants annually at the rate of one product every nine seconds, the company said in a statement.
The company expects the production methods deployed at the plant to set a benchmark for small and medium-sized manufacturing units in the country.
Karlheinz Kaul, CEO, Control Products, Digital Factory, Siemens AG notified that with he launch of the showcase digitalised factory in India, they further deepen their ties with a country in which they have a very strong presence.
The need for localising global products and adapting them to the local conditions has been the priority at Siemens in India, said Ashish Bhat, Executive Vice-President and Head, Digital Factory, Siemens Limited.
The factory has implemented end-to-end digitalisation across its value chain.
