Saturday, August 02, 2014: Siemens Limited has bagged a crucial turnkey order amounting to approximately Rs 4,110 million from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) for setting up three static VAR compensator (SVCs) in India.
The turnkey order involves designing, engineering, commissioning and installation of SVCs for three of PGCIL’s substations in Ludhiana in Punjab, Kankroli in Rajasthan and New Wangpoh in Jammu & Kashmir. An SVC is a high-voltage system that dynamically controls the network voltage and keeps it constant. The Power Grid Corporation has undertaken a series of SVC projects to improve grid stability across India. The order is for one of such projects.
