Around 45 per cent of Sennheiser’s India business come from its professional segment of audio devices and systems
German audio products company, Sennheiser’s India wing is planning to set up a manufacturing unit and research and development (R&D) centre in the country. The company designs and produces a wide range of headphones, microphones, wireless transmitters and aviation headsets for professional and business applications. For India, it plans to introduce products and technologies specifically designed for local consumers.
India in top five markets for Sennheiser
Sennheiser’s plan to invest in India is part of its aim to foray into the domestic and surrounding markets. “India is a Top-5 market for our company… There is a proposal to set up manufacturing in the country,” Vipin Pungalia, Director, Professional Segment, Sennheiser Electronics, told Telengana Today.
The Director added that the manufacturing facility was very much on the radar. “It is under evaluation as the market is growing. It might take two-three years (for taking a decision),” he said. Sennheiser has also received an invitation from the Telangana government to locate the factory in the state.
The company is evaluating different issues to zero in on setting up the manufacturing unit. Pungalia said that once fixed, Telangana, particularly Hyderabad will be one of the first choices of Sennheiser.
Sennheiser India business
Around 45 per cent of Sennheiser India’s business are contributed by its professional segment of audio devices and systems and Hyderabad poses as one of the top five markets with 25 per cent year-on-year growth. The segment includes music companies, production houses, and media and entertainment channels among others.
