After several complaints, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), with the help of traffic police, has identified around 90-100 dark spots in each ward following a survey done across 104 of them.
Shailendra Singh, standing committee chairman of south corporation, said the agreement that was signed with the PSU EESL was for conversion of sodium lights in to LED ones for the existing street poles. Around 11,000 new streetlights will come up ahead of Diwali.
Singh notified that till date around 1.92 lakh streetlights have been converted into LED. “There are 10,000 lights that EESL needs to change under the project that will be done before Diwali.
While many local councillors had earlier opposed the idea of converting sodium lights of parks, Singh announced that from November south civic body will go ahead with the plan.
