The Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHGAYA) was launched in Madhya Pradesh on 22nd December 2017, by Union Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy R K Singh and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
A total of approximately 45 lakh un-electrified households of Madhya Pradesh are proposed to be included under the present DDUGJY and Saubhagya Schemes.
With the launch of the scheme 5000 new electricity connections were released in Rewadistrict. Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli HarGhar Yojana(SAUBHAGYA), is a Scheme launched to achieve universal household electrification in all parts of the Country at a cost of Rs. 16,320 crore including Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) of Rs. 12,320 Crore from Government of India.
All States and Union Territories of the Country are required to complete household electrification in their respective jurisdiction by 31stMarch, 2019.
The launch ceremony was held in the august presence of Shri Paras Chandra Jain, Minister, Energy and New & Renewable Energy, Madhya Pradesh, Shri Narottam Mishra, Minister, Water Resources, Madhya Pradesh, Rajendra Shukla, Minister, Commerce & Industry, Madhya Pradesh, A. K. Verma, Joint Secretary (Distribution) MoP, J. N. Swain Joint Secretary (MNRE) MoPand other senior officers representing the Ministry of Power and the State Government, reported Energyinfrapost.
Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC) a “NavaratnaCPSE” under the Ministry of Power has been appointed as the nodal agency for coordinating the implementation of the scheme. The prospective beneficiary households for free electricity connections under the scheme will be identified using Socio Economic and CasteCensus (SECC), 2011 data.
