SAP and intelligent automation solutions supplier KUKA have partnered to integrate KUKA robotics into the SAP network, increasing the agility of production processes and automation, with a focus on manufacturing and mechanical engineering in the automotive sector.
SAP and KUKA plan to develop KUKA robot applications based on the SAP Leonardo Internet of Things (IoT) platform and KUKA robots will be integrated into the SAP Cloud Platform. The objective is to enable organisations to better evaluate predictive maintenance scenarios and monitor factory floors.
KUKA’s expertise in intelligent automation solutions pairs well with the solutions SAP has introduced through the SAP Leonardo portfolio to support the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
Dr Christian Schloegel, chief digital officer, KUKA opined that KUKA makes its machines and systems more intelligent and supplements them with innovative software solutions.
Schloegel said that his company is committed to a two-fold strategy to meet all customer needs: Combining KUKA robots with the SAP Cloud Platform and the SAP Leonardo IoT platform, while also using selected SAP technology components and business applications in its own startup connyun IoT platform, which is focused on mid-size machine construction.
