Samsung considers India as one of its most important and emerging markets for smartphones business and it plans to keep up its position in the future
Samsung considers India as a growing market for its smartphone business. The mobile maker has ensured that the products introduced cater to the needs of the Indian users. Sang II Park, principal product designer, Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics, highlighted the product designing strategy suiting the needs of the customers.
Product design
According to ET reports, Park said that in the case of product design, Samsung always puts itself in the customer’s shoes, which works best for the China and Indian markets. The electronics major has collaborated with several designers based out of India to design its smartphones specifically for the Indian market. Designers based in Korea, China and India exchange their innovative ideas relating to design elements to target the younger lot of these countries.
Samsung in India
Samsung has been eyeing to increase its presence in the Indian electronics market for the past few months. With a slew of new products, the company is targeting to rise by 33 per cent in the consumer appliance segment besides providing 5G equipment to telecom providers. As per a recent Counterpoint Research report, Samsung accounted for about 23 per cent of the total smartphones market.
As per the Singapore-based market analysis firm, Canalys, Samsung emerged as the second largest phone vendor in India. The company is closely working with the Department of Telecom (DoT) and will be conducting 5G field trials in New Delhi in 2019. It is also engaging in 5G solutions for home broadband services, agriculture and smart cities.
