Monday, May 12, 2014: Samsung’s India Head for the mobile phones segment, Vineet Taneja, has reportedly resigned from his post at the company. According to reports, the reasons for his resignation are not known yet. In a Financial Express reports, a Samsung India spokesperson said, “Samsung does not comment on rumour or speculation.”
Taneja was the country head for Samsung, heading the mobile and digital imaging arm of the company. He had joined the South Korean electronics giant from Bharti Airtel in 2013. He was the operation director for South India and Sri Lanka for Airtel before joining Samsung Electronics.
In addition, Taneja has also been the chief marketing officer for Nokia India as well as held the post for Vice President (Sales & Marketing) for Hindustan Lever, which makes foods and beverages.
Samsung is the leading player in the smartphone market, both within and outside India. According to reports, the company owns 24 per cent of the global market share in the smartphone segments and accounts for 38 per cent share in the Indian market. The company’s share grew in India this past year to a veritable 44 per cent.
