Saturday, March 01, 2014: Successful bids are for on-grid rooftop PV at a total of 10 MW, to be installed in different cities and states in India.
In a move to strengthen the country’s solar initiative, Government of India has worked hard to ensure available policies. The Solar Energy Corporation India (SECI) has further revealed the list successful bidders for on-grid rooftop PV tenders, to count towards the country’s Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM).
The published results account the successful bids for tenders to develop the rooftop Photovoltaic (PV) systems in selected cities and states across the country. The installations will merge towards the target of JNNSM. The solar mission aims to reach a solar power capacity of 22 GW by the year of 2022. This is the third phase of bids for the on-grid rooftop solar PV tenders released by SECI, with the installations for this phase totalling upto 10 MW.
It is to be noted that India’s small-scale rooftop PV market has to comply with national and state level policy, so far, these policies are inclined towards large production projects. The potential in this segment is huge, since a consultancy, Bridge to India, estimated that the residential rooftop potential in Delhi is around 1.2GW.
