Renesas Electronics Corp. filed patent-infringement complaints against television maker Vizio Inc. with the U.S. International Trade Commission and in U.S. federal court in Texas, according to a report by the Bloomberg news service.
According to the Bloomberg report, Renesas’ ITC complaint accuses Vizio of violating two of its U.S. patents. One patent at issue covers arrangement of connections on the surface of the chip, while the other is for a manufacturing process that reduces corrosion, according to the report.
Vizio (Irvine, Calif.) has a case pending at the ITC against Renesas, according to the report. A trial in that case is set for next June, according to the report.
Complaints filed at the ITC typically request that the agency bar the importation into the U.S. of products found to infringe patents held by another company.
