Reliance Industries is expanding its leadership in the field of new mobility technology solutions by enhancing the executive team of its New Mobility business. In a significant development, the company has appointed Ashish Tarte as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Reliance New Mobility, a position he has taken up, as reported by ETAuto. In his new role, Tarte will directly report to Nitin Seth, CEO of Reliance New Mobility.
Tarte is charged with the pivotal task of supervising technological progress, specifically focusing on spearheading groundbreaking innovations in sectors including Mobility As A Service (MaaS), Battery As A Service (BaaS), and Hydrogen Engines (H2ICE), among other related fields, particularly for the Bengaluru division of Reliance New Mobility. These technologies are key to the development of sustainable mobility solutions in India, which Reliance aims to implement.
Bringing three decades of industry experience, Tarte has a profound background in both electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) product and technology development. Prior to his new role at Reliance, he served as the COO & CTO of Lectrix EV (SAR Group), where he played a crucial role in launching innovative products such as the born electric 2W LXS platform and the Andaaz e-rickshaw.
Tarte’s journey in the electric vehicle (EV) arena began with his transition to Mahindra Electric (now Mahindra Last Mile Mobility), where he held the position of Vice President- Product Development & CDMM (Component Development and Material Management). During his tenure, he was instrumental in the development of EV models like the e2O, e2O Plus, and the Treo 3-wheeler platform.
Before joining Mahindra, Tarte led operations and product development at International Cars & Motors Ltd (ICML), a part of the Sonalika Group, serving as its COO. He was integral to the from-scratch development of the company’s inaugural passenger vehicle, the Rhino Rx MUV, equipped with a 2L BS4 CRDI powertrain.
Tarte began his illustrious career in 1994 at Mahindra & Mahindra’s Vehicle Engineering (R&D) Department in Nasik, where he was involved in significant projects such as the Marshal, Maxx, and Bolero.
This appointment of Tarte as CTO underscores Reliance New Mobility’s commitment to advancing technological innovations in the rapidly progressing sectors of electric and hydrogen mobility in India.
