- The completion date of next-gen semiconductor is set for the second half of next year
- Both companies are expecting to make high-performance AI semiconductors
AI fabless semiconductor startup Rebellions has signed a joint semiconductor development partnership with Samsung Electronics.
With Samsung, Rebellions has planned to co-develop a next-generation semiconductor named Rebel. Samsung will not only handle production but also be involved in logic and layout design, as well as validation. The production will be executed using Samsung’s 4-nm process and the semiconductor will also use Samsung’s HBM3E memory. The target completion date for the development is set for the second half of next year.
Both companies are expecting to make high-performance AI semiconductors, which can lead them to capture the AI semiconductor market.
Collaborating closely with Samsung Electronics is anticipated to elevate the semiconductor’s quality, as it necessitates more than just fabless design expertise for a thriving high-performance AI chip. Rebellions’ Atom AI semiconductor, crafted with Samsung’s 5-nm process earlier this year, exemplifies this synergy, encompassing top-tier memory chips, design expertise, and foundries.
A representative from rebellions mentioned, “A notable feature of this Rebel development is that the entire process will be conducted only with domestic companies’ capabilities, without involving overseas foundries or design houses.”
