The collaboration aims to transform mobile photography using AI and innovative camera technology for realme’s upcoming 5G phones.
Realme, a Chinese mobile phone manufacturer, has unveiled a partnership with Sony, a Japanese electronics company, for its upcoming 5G smartphone. The company officials announced this deal at a pre-launch event held in Bangkok last week.
According to the official statement, this partnership will introduce Sony’s LYT-701 camera sensor for the first time in the realme 13 Pro Series 5G.
It was also mentioned that the company will announce the launch dates for the device in India and other markets later.
Briefing on the deal’s perks, Realme highlighted that the AI-imaging-enabled device incorporates Sony’s ‘HYPERIMAGE+’ technology, featuring multiple lenses, periscope lenses, and large sensors.
The phones have the LYT-701 camera sensor and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera featuring Sony LYT-600, ensuring high-quality image output.
Additionally, on-device AI imaging algorithms and cloud-based AI image editing capabilities will also be offered.
Francis Wong, Head of Product Marketing at realme, sees AI to shape the future of mobile photography through this collaboration.
He mentioned that the smartphone industry has focused on megapixel counts, sensor sizes, and lens technologies. While advancements have boosted user flexibility, hardware improvements are nearing their peak.
Toshimitsu Kurosaka, Vice President of Sony Semiconductor Solutions (Shanghai) Limited, stated that this deal will empower consumers to capture and share their world in unprecedented ways.
