The firm plans to expand its team across various departments, aiming to boost its employee numbers from 80 to 200 by the year 2025.
Raptee is set to increase its recruitment efforts as it gears up to start producing its inaugural batch of 10,000 mid-premium motorcycles, comparable to 250-cc ICE bikes. The Chennai-based electric vehicle company, having recently secured over $3 million in a pre-series A funding round led by Bluehill Capital, plans to expand its team from 80 to 200 employees by 2025. Deliveries of the first batch are scheduled to commence by mid-March 2024.
Co-founder and CEO Dinesh Arjun stated that Raptee is seeking to hire individuals who share the company’s primary focus on enhancing user experience. He underscored the importance of rider safety as a key component of this experience, noting Raptee’s development of patented driver assistance systems designed for crowded areas like urban Indian roads to reduce accident risks.
Additionally, Arjun highlighted Raptee’s innovative battery assembly methods, patented to minimize on-road failures over a 10-15-year period. He mentioned the company’s intention to strengthen its team, particularly for the expansion of its manufacturing unit. This expansion aims to achieve a maximum production capacity of 108,000 units in the next 2 to 3 years, with 50 of these employees being devoted exclusively to research and development (R&D).
In under three years, Raptee has made significant strides in R&D, developing its own motor controller, battery management system, and vehicle control unit, and has filed for multiple patents.
The Raptee mid-premium motorcycle, priced at approximately Rs 2 lakh, matches a 250 cc ICE motorcycle in performance. It boasts a top speed of 135 kmph, accelerating from 0 to 60 in just 3.5 seconds. The motorcycle is also equipped with CCS2 charging, making it compatible with passenger car charging stations.
