Tuesday, December 23, 2014: Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje has inked an MoU with a private firm to set up a 1000 MW solar power plant in Baori, with an investment of Rs 70,000 million, along with the foundation laid for slew of other projects. Raje during her visit to Jodhpur, had also laid the foundation stone for a mega drinking water project, 100-MW solar plant and had inaugurated a grid sub-station.
While signing the MoU with Azure Power, she noted about the states vision towards developing an investor-friendly environment and achieving the target of 25,000 MW solar energy generation within next five years. She further also promised about every possible help from the government to the investors.
Raje also talked about the government’s determination to deal with the challenges before the state like energy security and climate change. The plant will be spread across the 725 acres of land at Hardhani and Nandia Kalan in Jodhpur’s Baori. It is expected to supply the electricity to 100,000 households and would also create 1500 estimated jobs for the people there.
