In a move for energy conservation in Indian railways, Hyderabad division railway quarters and Colony Street lights are going to adopt 100 per cent Light-Emitting Diode (LED) under the South-Central Railways. Hyderabad division is the first division which is going to become 100 per cent LED lighting.
Speaking to The Hans India, Arun Kumar Jain, Divisional Railway Manager/Hyderabad Division, said, “During the year 2018-19 as the part of energy conservation measures, Hyderabad Division initiated major step of converting lighting of Railway Quarters with 100 per cent LED lightings including colony street lights. As many as 4,096 quarters have been converted into fully LED lit.”
He said that as many as 10,044 conventional tube lights and 17,991 conventional bulbs and 2,683 conventional street lights had been replaced with LED lights. This had resulted in reduction of 168.59 KW connected load leading to saving of 4.30 Iakh units, equivalent to Rs 34.43 lakh per year, he said.
