Qualcomm has announced their plan to expand operations in Chennai with an investment of ₹ 177.27 crore in a new design centre. The design centre is expected to generate employment opportunities for up to 1,600 skilled professionals.

During the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet in Chennai, Qualcomm Incorporated declared this major expansion in Chennai. Savi Soin, President of Qualcomm India, emphasised the role of the new design centre in Chennai in shaping the future of global connectivity, especially in India.
The company considers the centre as a major asset to Qualcomm’s commitment to the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Design in India’ initiatives. It is expected to enhance collaboration with Indian technology partners and hasten the adoption of new technologies in the market.
Mahesh Moorthy, Vice President of Engineering and Head of Qualcomm Chennai Design Center, said that Tamil Nadu’s skilled professionals, educational institutions, and innovation are driving Qualcomm’s technological progress.
