Prof V. Ramgopal Rao, director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has been conferred with the ACCS-CDAC Foundation Award for his outstanding contribution to Science and Technology. With this recognition his work on semiconductor materials and MEMS has placed India on the global R&D map.
Milestones achieved
Prof Rao holds a B-Tech degree in Electronics and Instrumentation from Kakatiya University, Warangal followed by M.Tech in Microelectronics. He then pursued his higher education in Nanoelectronics from University of California. He also holds a Doctorate in Engineering (Nanoelectronics) from Universitat der BundeswehrMunich, Germany.
With a strong educational background in electronics, he then joined IIT, Bombay as a professor. He continued to impart his knowledge at IITB for 11 years after which to joined IIT Delhi and took over his role as the director of the prestigious institution.
