Thursday, November 21, 2013: After extensive research in leading global markets including India, Royal Philips has unveiled a redesigned logo and a fresh new tagline.
The new tagline of the tech major is now ‘Innovation and you’ instead of ‘Sense and simplicity’. Moreover, it has replaced its 80-years-old shield logo with a new design. Vivek Sharma, Philips India chief marketing officer told ET, “Along with our agency Ogilvy & Mather, we had undertaken extensive qualitative and quantitative research with consumers and customers in India before arriving at the new brand positioning.”
It conducted similar research in markets like China, the USA, Europe and Brazil. India is currently the sixth largest market for Philips. Sharma also shared that the company has plans to fine tune its business in India by means of innovations that are based on local consumers’ needs and culture. The country will also witness a brand new campaign in January.
Philips India is in the middle of reshaping its business, wherein it will move away from electronics and focus more on lighting and healthcare products. It had recently changed its name to Philips India from Philips Electronics India. It also signed a deal with Videocon Group to use its brand name for TVs till 2017.
“We are integrating our consumer business after-sales in social media like Facebook and Twitter where we would listen to consumers and service their needs. Philips will also launch its own e-store in India for consumer products, since in some segments like personal care products almost 15 per cent of the sales are generated from e-commerce,” Sharma added.
