Saturday, October 19, 2013: In a major change, the Indian arm of Philips Electronics has named A. Krishnakumar, as its new managing director and the new CEO. Krishnakumar is currently heading the healthcare business in India, and will take over his new position starting December 2013.
Krishnakumar has succeeded Rajeev Chopra, who will now be heading the global operations of Philips Consumer Luminaire Business Group. The company informed that its management decided the reshuffle in the top positions at the board meeting recently.
Along with his new responsibilities, Krishnakumar will continue to head the healthcare business until the company appoints his successor, Philips said in a statement. Krishnakumar is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad and has worked with firms like Coopers & Lybrand Consulting, HSBC Investment Banking, Microland and Johnson & Johnson’s healthcare division, before joining Philips in June 2010.
