Succeeding Avijit Mitra, Tata’s Croma appoints Shibashish Roy as CEO. With leadership experience and omnichannel expertise, Roy aims to drive Croma’s next growth phase.
On Thursday, Tata’s Infiniti Retail, which operates the Croma brand, announced the appointment of Shibashish Roy as its new CEO. Roy will assume the role on November 18, 2024, succeeding Avijit Mitra, retiring in March 2025 after serving as Managing Director and CEO.
Mitra will remain on the company’s board as Managing Director until his retirement. This leadership transition is part of Infiniti Retail’s succession plan, focusing on a seamless handover and further growth.
Roy is currently the Deputy CEO at Infiniti Retail, overseeing key areas such as store operations, e-commerce, marketing, buying, merchandising, services, and technology. According to the company, his extensive experience in these critical functions equips him to drive Croma’s growth in the competitive consumer electronics and durables sector.
Naveen Tahilyani, Chairman of Infiniti Retail, expressed gratitude to Avijit Mitra for his significant contributions, especially during his nine years as CEO. He praised Mitra for expanding revenues, building a strong team, improving operational processes, and growing Croma’s presence with a vast network of stores.
Tahilyani highlighted that under Mitra’s leadership, Croma became one of India’s top three electronics retailers and is now well-positioned for further growth.
Tahilyani praised Roy for his leadership in shaping Croma’s omnichannel strategy and improving customer experience. He expressed confidence that Roy’s leadership would drive the company’s next phase of growth.
Founded in 2006, Croma operates over 550 stores across 220+ cities in India, expanding into suburban and tier-2/3 regions. It integrates physical and online retail through its website and the Tata Neu app.
