As Tata gears to steer India’s semiconductor revolution with initiatives in Dholera and Jagiroad, Bobby Mitra becomes the new CIO and President of AI and Digital Transformation of Tata Electronics.
Tata Electronics announced on Wednesday the appointment of Bobby Mitra as Chief Information Officer (CIO) and President of AI and Digital Transformation. In this role, he will lead initiatives across the company’s electronic manufacturing services, semiconductor assembly and testing, semiconductor foundry, and design services sectors in their AI and digital shift.
Mitra and his team will also play a crucial role in advancing Tata Electronics’ focus on AI-driven manufacturing excellence, particularly in establishing India’s first semiconductor Fab in Dholera, Gujarat, and the country’s first indigenous semiconductor assembly and testing facility in Jagiroad, Assam.
Randhir Thakur, MD and CEO of Tata Electronics highlighted that Mitra’s extensive experience in smart manufacturing and the digital landscape will be vital for delivering customer value.
Previously, Mitra led smart manufacturing and industrial systems at Texas Instruments globally and served as President and Managing Director of Texas Instruments India. Most recently, he directed manufacturing and supply chain improvements at Deloitte Consulting as Managing Director.
Mitra holds a B Tech in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering, a PhD in Computer Science from IIT Kharagpur, and an MBA from the University of Texas, Austin. He is a fellow of the global electronics standards body IEEE and serves as global chair of SEMI Smart Manufacturing.
