Now OnePlus is all set to offer a whole new experience of smart environment right in your homes with its latest smart TV range
OnePlus has planned to enter the smart TV segment with its AI-assisted smart TVs with high-quality hardware, seamless user experience and minimalistic designs. Although the detailed specifications of its proposed smart TV brand are yet to be out, assumptions are that the new range will be visually appealing.
Pete Lau, OnePlus Founder and CEO, is gearing up to boost the development of smart TVs with his 20 years of experience in the smartphone and Blu-ray industries.
Registration for name-suggestion
Stephen L, TV product manager, has been named to get going with the development. The official name is also yet to be decided. The company will be taking in proposed names for the brand until October 16. It will be selecting 10 entries and each of the entries will receive OnePlus Bullets Wireless worth Rs. 3,990. The participant of the winning name will receive the first OnePlus TV as well as a trip to its launch event. The OnePlus smart TV, reportedly, is in its early stages of development and the expected time for launch is 2019.
As per IHS Markit reports, smart TVs rose from 45 per cent of overall shipments in 2015 to 64 per cent in 2017. It is projected to reach 70 per cent this year. Paul Gagnon, research and analysis executive director, IHS Markit, said that rise in streaming video availability worldwide for events like the World Cup and Olympics, along with continued growth for global streaming video services, had contributed in the strong growth in smart TV sales in the recent years.
In India, the television market is valued at Rs 22,000 crore with a growth of about 15%. Recently, companies like Blaupunkt, Skyworth, TCL, Thomson and Kodak entered the segment. Smartphone makers like Xiaomi, Micromax and Intex have also been seen getting into this field.
