Ola’s electric mobility unit Ola Electric Mobility Pvt Ltd has appointed auto industry veteran BVR Subbu as a board member. Last month, the company had appointed former General Motors (GM) executive Jaime Ardila as a director on the company’s board. In May, Ola appointed former Vodafone Plc CEO Arun Sarin as an independent director.
BVR Subbu is the former president of Hyundai Motors India. He started his career with Tata Administrative Service. He, then, moved on to Tata Motors where he held many leadership positions across vehicles and spares marketing, service and sales finance domains. Presently,he manages a boutique strategy-consulting firm, Beyond Visual Range and also serves as a member of the boards of many automotive and technology companies.

Ola’s Electric was started in February 2017 as a wholly-owned unit of ANI Technologies. Presently, the company is running pilots across the country using electric vehicles and charging solutions which includes battery swapping stations. In July, it raised about $250 million from SoftBank and entered the unicorn club of startups (unicorn startup means a privately held startup company valued at over $1 billion).
