During its annual Sankalp 2024 event held at the Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, on August 15, 2024, Ola Electric displayed its domestically developed Bharat 4680 cell and battery pack, the new Gen-3 platform, and MoveOS 5. Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CMD of Ola Electric expressed optimism about the company’s entry into the motorcycle sector, citing that two-thirds of India’s two-wheeler market comprises motorcycles. He emphasized the potential for increased electric vehicle penetration in the segment, building on the success already achieved in scooters.

Additionally, Ola Electric revealed two forthcoming models, the Sportster and Arrowhead, and announced reservations for all Roadster variants beginning August 15, 2024. The motorcycles, characterized by a minimalist, futuristic design, are part of Ola’s scalable and modular motorcycle platform. Similar to its S1 scooter series, Ola Electric will provide an 8-year battery warranty for its motorcycle range and allow access to its existing charging network.

The company further detailed plans to incorporate its Bharat 4680 cell into its vehicles from the first quarter of fiscal year 2026, noting that the cell is in trial production at Ola’s Gigafactory. This cell, with a high energy capacity of 275 Wh/kg, supports a wider temperature range and over 1,000 charge cycles and boasts fast-charging capabilities.

Ola Electric also previewed its Gen-3 platform, which is described as the most sophisticated yet for future electric vehicles, promising greater scalability, enhanced performance, and improved efficiency. The upcoming MoveOS 5, set to enhance the riding experience with features like Group Navigation and predictive insights, is anticipated to start beta testing by Diwali via an OTA update.
