The plant will facilitate power generation capacity of more than 7 million units.
NTPC is set to enter the solar energy arena with its first solar plant in Dadri, which will start its operations by the end of this month. The 5 MW solar plant in Dadri will be Noida’s first running plant, after previous efforts are yet to offer positive results.
The plant has reportedly been built with an investment of Rs 485 million. This plant is NTPC’s first initiative that is related with energy project. It is expected to generate about 7.26 million units (MU) of power every year reducing 0.82 metric tonnes of carbon emissions per MW-hour of produced power. Wipro was handing the equipment supply and building of the Dadri plant.
The Noida Board had recently approved a 1 MW solar power generation plant in the national capital region on the UP irrigation possession land along Yamuna bank and Noida drain, which will be used for lighting the streetlights.
NTPC’s photovoltaic-based (PV) plant is located in the campus of its power facility in Dadri. “The plant is at presently undergoing trial. Commercial supply of electricity will begin before end of March,” DK Sood, general manager, NTPC-Dadri, was quoted as saying in the Times of India report.
