Thursday, May 08, 2014: NTPC, India’s largets power producer has completed a 50 MW solar power project. The Rajgarh (Madhya Pradesh) project of NTPC was completed on 30 April, commissioning 20MW unit.
The company now has about 95MW of completed solar power plants. NTPC had announced the commissioning of the Talcher Kaniha (10MW) solar power project
on 27 March. Apart from the Talcher Kaniha and Rajgarh plants, NTPC has Andaman Solar power plant (5MW), Dadri Solar (5MW), Ramagundam Solar (10MW) and the (5MW) Faridibad in Haryana, and (10MW) Unchahar in Uttar Pradesh solar power plants in its portfolio. Yet another project that is currently under development is at Singrauli, Uttar Pradesh, which is of 15 MW capacity.
NTPC’s solar initiatives account for about 28 per cent of country’s solar power generation, and the company, so far, has the installed capacity of over 43GW. NTPC consumers get energy from its 17 coal plants, seven gas plants, seven solar projects and seven other coal and natural gas joint ventures.
