February 6, 2015: A 5MW solar power plant is commissioned at Monarchak in Tripura by North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO). The plant is said to be the biggest in northeast India.
While speaking to IANS, SR Biswas, general manager, NEEPCO said that power generation from plant has been started and the full capacity can be started within a month till some technicalities are finished.
It took 400 million to commission the solar power plant. The power generated from this plant will be transmitted to Tripura power grid.
Biswas further added that NEEPCO will set-up another plant at Madhya Pradesh of 50MW and a 2MW plant in Assam. He said according to government policy, NEEPCO has begun the process to install more and more solar and renewable power plants in different parts of the country.
