Nokia’s impressive transformation in the market is probably one of the reasons behind Apple’s interest in hiring Ashish Chowdhary as head of its India’s operations
Apple, a brand famous for its electronic products including iPhone and iMac in the world is all set to welcome Ashish Chowdhary as its India operations head. Chowdhary will start heading Apple’s India operations from January next year.
The Cupertino based company said, “In a fillip to Apple CEO Tim Cook’s big future plans for the Indian market, Apple has appointed Ashish Chowdhary, Chief Customer Operations Officer at Nokia Networks, as its India operation head.”
Ashish Chowdhary is currently serving Nokia Networks as its Chief Customer Operations Officer. He is employed at Nokia for the last fifteen years. Nokia announcing changes in the composition of its group leadership team confirmed that Chowdhary will leave Nokia at the end of 2018 after 15 successful years.
The company said, “Chowdhary will continue to lead Customer Operations and remain a member of the Nokia Group Leadership Team until the end of 2018. He will then leave Nokia to take a leadership position in another company.”
What Ashish Chowdhary brings to the table
Holding MBA in marketing from University of Pennsylvania and Master of Science (MS) from Emory University, Ashish Chowdhary has over 28 years of experience with Nokia, Nokia-Siemens Network and Hughes Communications India.
He is currently serving as EVP and Chief Business Officer for Nokia Networks. His experience spans over enterprise and telecom sectors and he is currently responsible for Nokia Networks’ sales and operations globally.
Chowdhary has worked as head of Asia Middle East and Africa and as Head of Global Services Business Unit for Nokia. It is believed that these units contributed around half of company’s revenues and were key to the successful transformation of Nokia. Nokia’s impressive transformation path in the market is probably one of the reasons behind Apple’s interest in hiring him as head of its India’s operations.
Apple India operations are currently headed by Michel Coulomb. He had taken over the role from Sanjay Kaul in December last year. This will be a second major change in Apple India leadership in under a years time.
