Through the agreement, Nokia will offer best-in-class and end-to-end technology solutions to China Mobile to prepare the latter for next-generation networks
Finnish multinational telecommunications and consumer electronics firm, Nokia has signed a one-year deal with Chinese mobile operator worth US$ 1.2 billion for providing additional elements of the former’s mobile radio access and core portfolio besides fixed access, IP routing and optical transport, customer experience management and services as required for speed, quality and relatability. The agreement was signed on Tuesday at Sino-German Economic Forum.
Making China Mobile ready for the next-generation networks
According to the agreement will see China Mobile receiving best-in-class and end-to-end technology solutions from Nokia to get ready for the next-generation network deployment filled with cloud and machine communications. This deal is primarily aimed at helping Chinese mobile operator’s transition to a future-oriented network infrastructure.
The event at the Economic Forum was attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. Among other key people, Li Huidi, vice president of China Mobile and Hans-Jurgen Bill, executive vice president and chief human resources officer at Nokia were also present during the signing of the deal.
Explore new opportunities in vertical markets
China Mobile and Nokia have signed a memorandum of understanding for research and testing of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine-learning capabilities of next-generation cloud and machine inspired networks for the delivery of intelligent network optimisation and radio resource management. As per the agreement, the Finnish company and China Mobile will work together focusing in vertical markets and explore more opportunities.
The agreement has been established on a longstanding relationship between Nokia and China Mobile in creating, experimenting and deploying new technologies to enable seamless cloud connectivity and faster, more affordable Internet access, meeting new demand while evolving networks for the future.
