Boosting advanced sustainable manufacturing practices, Nefab has established a new semiconductor packaging plant in Batu Kawan, Malaysia, which will be fully operational next year.
Nefab, a Swedish sustainable packaging provider, has opened a new 25,500-square-foot manufacturing plant in Batu Kawan, Malaysia. Through this expansion, Nefab aims to advance semiconductor packaging with eco-friendly solutions. Additionally, it is expected to create up to 50 new jobs, including for skilled engineers.
The Batu Kawan plant will feature a specialised cleanroom for producing quality films and bags, an engineering design centre, and an ISTA-certified lab with advanced packaging testing capabilities. These facilities will commence full operations by 2025, ensuring superior packaging standards and performance.
According to the company, the new venture will enhance the production of eco-friendly packaging in line with its focus on resource conservation in supply chains. This includes customisable wooden crates compliant with export standards and foldable, nail-less plywood boxes.
The new site marks an expansion of Nefab’s footprint in the Asia-Pacific region from its current locations in Malaysia and Singapore to include Thailand and the Philippines, as well as future investments planned for Indonesia.
“This expansion in Malaysia not only highlights our strategic importance in the Asia-Pacific region but also demonstrates our deep understanding and commitment to the growing demands of the semiconductor industry in this area,” remarked Fred Hapiak, Executive Vice President of Asia Pacific at Nefab.
Dennis Cheong, Vice President of Nefab Southeast Asia, highlighted the company’s global collaboration across offices to maintain service consistency and transfer technological expertise to their design and testing centre.
He further stated, “Our investment in engineered packaging designs allows us to innovate and create safe and environmentally conscious solutions that optimise supply chains.”
