Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik proposed Tata Group to set up a defence manufacturing cluster and steel downstream cluster in Odisha. The proposal was put across to the Tata Sons chairman Natarajan Chandrasekharan at the state secretariat.
“Tata Advanced Systems may consider to develop the defence manufacturing cluster on 871 hectares of land at Naraj in possession of the Tata Power,” Naveen said.
CM also asked Tatas to consider building a steel downstream cluster at Kalinga Nagar in Jaipur district with provision of liquid metal.
Chandrasekharan said,”The capacity of the steel plant will be augmented from six million to eight million tonne with an investment of Rs 25,000 crore,”
During the meeting, Naveen also put forward various other proposals like setting up an EV project by Tata Motor, a manufacturing unit by Tata Chemicals at the Petroleum Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region in Paradip.
