Wednesday, October 23, 2013: K H Muniyappa, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises laid the foundation stone for a New Technology Centre at Ch. Ranbir Singh IMT, Rohtak (Haryana) here today. The proposed Project cost of the Technology Centre would be to the tune of Rs.125 crore, located in 19.8 acres of land which has been provided by the State Government of Haryana free of cost.
At the meeting the Minister for MSME impressed upon the fact that worldwide MSMEs have been regarded as the engine of economic growth and a tool for promoting equitable development. Contributing with 8% to India’s GDP the sector employs an estimated 8 crore people spread over 3.6 crore enterprises that produce a diversified product basket.
To meet the enhanced and ever growing demand for tooling, product & process development as well as skilled manpower the Ministry of MSME has launched the scheme titled Technology Centre Systems Programme (TCSP). The objective of the scheme is to establish more Technology Centres in the country to provide technological support to MSMEs, and thereby making them globally competitive.
The Minister said that Rohtak is an established industrial hub as a number of industries are operating from the region. Industrial Model Township (IMT) Rohtak is positioned to emerge as the second most important industrial corridor. Numerous varieties of industrial fasteners, engineering products, chemicals and other items are being manufactured and exported to various countries across the globe from this region. After setting up of MSME Technology Centre at Rohtak more than 4500 MSME units manufacturing Auto components, General Engineering /Fasteners etc will get advantage in developing world class dies, tools, moulds, jigs, fixtures in addition to testing facilities and trained technical manpower. Therefore, the Centre will assist the units in improving their quality of end product and accordingly export. Due to setting up of this centre, these MSME units of district Rohtak will start developing their new products, proto types and other tooling locally as presently they are getting these services from outstations like Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Chennai, Ludhiana etc.
It was also stated that the Technology Centre on completion and becoming operational will be of immense help to industries from not only in and around Rohtak, but from the Northern region of the country as well. Also, the youth shall find the training programmes to be conducted by this Technology Centre quite useful to enhance their employment potential.
