The Ministry of Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is keen on adopting the cluster development approach to enhance the competitiveness of the sector. Speaking at the CII Cluster Summit, the minister for MSME, Vayalar Ravi said, “The cluster development approach is the need of the hour and is relevant to the requirements of MSMEs. Apart from the benefits of deployment of resources and economy of scales, it helps in weaving the fabric of networking, cooperation and togetherness in the industry, thus enabling the industry to achieve competitiveness in the long run.”
Micro and small units are generally not in a position to install costly machinery for critical operations. However, collectively, through the cluster development approach, these enterprises can attain the desired goal of being competitive in the present global scenario.
