Monday, November 03, 2014: Ministry of MSME secretary Madhav Lal announced that 15 new technology centres will be built to enhance market growth of SMEs through clusters. Lal announced the decision while inaugurating 7th National Cluster Summit at New Delhi, which was themed as “Scaling Up Clusters: Fostering Growth and Employment in SMEs”.
More than 500 delegates from the government and domestic as well as overseas industry attended the summit on its first day. Lal emphasised on the fact that focus has to remain on value addition, capacity building through training process and infrastructure requirements. He also thanked Confederation of Indian Industry for their consistent hard work towards the sector to boost the entire industry and individuals’ performance level. A CII Cluster Competitiveness Roadmap has also been designed in a customised way so that participating companies get required results.
The CII-ZED Clusters are said to focus on competence building in the Indian manufacturing sector. National Cluster Summit’s chairman Yogesh Munjal said that the entire process is asked to be made simple as it will enhance competitive nature of the Clusters. Sessions on skill development, challenges in SMEs, HR practices and more were also organised on Wednesday. The second day of the Summit had sessions on energy conservation, automation in technology and more. CII-Avantha Centre for Competitiveness-organised National Cluster Summit is an annual event which is aimed at cluster movement and networking among Indian SMEs.
