March 20, 2015: Kalraj Mishra, minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has launched a scheme for the promotion of innovation, entrepreneurship and agro-industry. “The scheme was formulated to set up a network of technology centres and to set up incubation centres to accelerate entrepreneurship and also to promote start-ups for innovation and entrepreneurship in agro-industry,” said Mishra, as reported by a news portal.
The scheme comes up from the finance minister Arun Jaitley’s budget speech for 2014-15, wherein he had suggested establishment of technology centre network for the promotion of innovation,entrepreneurship and agro-industry with a fund of Rs 20 billion, added the minister.
Mishra also suggested to put in place a programme to facilitate forward and backward linkages with multiple chain of manufacturing and service delivery and also to take up a nation wide district level incubation and accelerator programme” for promoting new ideas and providing the required support for speeding up entrepreneurship.
The minister has also announced setting up of 500 new incubation centres across India by next year.
