Tuesday, November 19, 2013: If reports are to be believed, Moser Baer is finalising its plan to resume cell manufacturing in India. This is based on the decision of the government to allocate half the capacity in an upcoming PV tender round for projects that use homegrown cells and modules.
It was confirmed last month that the 375MW of the 750MW of PV capacity will be auctioned off in the so-called “Phase 2, Batch 2” tender round of the National Solar Mission in Delhi, which will be reserved for projects that use both cells and modules produced in India, according to Recharge News.
While the company is not making any at the moment, it claims to have 185MW of production capacity for crystalline silicon (c-Si) PV cells.
Let’s see if Moser Baer can bounce back in the market with this decision. What do you feel?
