The Murugappa Group company has successfully delivered 5,000 units of its electric Super Auto passenger three-wheelers to customers in 74 markets across 17 states. The company is now preparing to expand into the market for electric three-wheeler goods carriers.

Montra Electric, a subsidiary of the Murugappa Group company, has announced the delivery of its 5,000th three-wheeler Passenger Auto (L5M category) just one year after launching and entering the electric three-wheeler market. This niche within the Indian EV sector is experiencing the fastest shift towards e-mobility, with every second three-wheeler sold in India now being an emission-free model.

Over the course of the last year, Montra Electric has distributed these 5,000 Super Autos to customers spread across 74 markets in 17 different states. TI Green Mobility, the parent company, recorded retail sales of 3,056 units in the first seven months of the 2024 calendar year alone, marking a significant achievement in a segment that boasts over 500 competing companies.

Roy Kurian, the Business Head of Montra Electric 3Ws, expressed pride in reaching the significant milestone of delivering 5,000 Super Autos within a year of the company’s launch. He attributed this achievement to Montra Electric’s dedication to leading the electric mobility revolution in India. Kurian acknowledged the crucial support from customers, dealer partners, suppliers, and the committed team at Montra Electric. As the company plans to expand and introduce new products, it emphasises its ongoing commitment to delivering sustainable and efficient transportation solutions.

The Montra Electric Super Auto is distinguished by its unique design, spacious interior, and impressive ARAI-certified range of 203km. The vehicle also features industry-first multi-drive modes to enhance fuel efficiency and a Park Assist Mode for easier navigation in city traffic. In November 2023, the Montra Super Auto received the International Red Dot Design Award for 2023 in the ‘Innovative Last Mile Mobility Electric Passenger Vehicle’ category. Specifications of the Super Auto include a top speed of 55kph, acceleration from 0-20kph in 4 seconds, and a seating capacity of four, including the driver. It delivers a peak power of 10kW and torque of 60 Nm and is available in two variants – the ePV and ePV 2.0, with dimensions of 2855mm in length, 1350mm in width, and 1750mm in height.

Looking ahead, Montra Electric is preparing to make its entry into the three-wheeler goods carrier segment, indicating a strategic expansion of their product lineup.
