March 21, 2015: Ajay Prakash Shrivastava, president of Solar Energy Society of India (SESI) expressed his dissatisfaction over the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) alleged move to stop commercial banks from offering loans for the installation of solar home lighting systems covered under the subsidy scheme due to pending subsidy burden.
The ‘solar home lighting system’ scheme is about a bank loan cum subsidy scheme which is a part of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) which is funded via the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and its branches.
