Friday, August 08, 2014: The biggest market for India’s electronic hardware exports is the Middle East, and its an undisputed fact now. A growth of 6.66 per cent has been recorded in the sales figures in this region, which estimates the total amount to $1,738 million in 2013-14.
Regional director at Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) in the Middle East, Kamal Vachani, shared his inputs about the same, “UAE leads the list of countries importing India’s electronics hardware.” As per his reports, export of electronic goods has growed the most in this time period, up from $1,630 million, as estimated in the year 2012-13. Vachani added further, “Amongst the Middle East countries, UAE is the top destination for India’s electronics export followed by Saudi Arabia and Turkey.” Moreover, as he added, “Export of software and related services to Middle East has also registered a growth of 11.74 per cent. Export of software and services increased from $1,852 million estimated in 2012-13 to $2,069 million estimated in 2013-14.”
Middle East region has been labelled among the fastest growing ICT markets in the world. Dubai is a hot favourite among Indian companies as a business destination. The Council is looking forward to strengthening relations between India and the Middle East. Hence they are inviting a large delegation from the region to attend IT Show 2015. It is going to be the largest IT global networking event in New Delhi, scheduled for February. This forum will see the presence of around 500 software and services buyers from over 75 countries including USA, UK, Europe, Middle East, Japan, China, Korea, Latin America, Africa, CIS, ASEAN region and more.
DK Sareen, executive director at ESC, shared some more information, “This year in 2014 at Gulf Information Technology Exhibition Dubai, 40 Indian ICT companies are exhibiting at the INDIA Pavilion. This is indicative of the growing interests of the Indian companies in the Middle East Region.” He continued, “Naturally, India has a great stake in the booming Middle East, Africa, Asia and European markets for which Dubai is the Gateway. Thus the event provides the participating Indian ICT companies opportunities for scouting the expanding Middle East market.”
