The Windsor EV will be available at a price point below Rs 20 lakh.
MG Motor India is set to introduce its latest electric vehicle, the Windsor EV, in the Indian market on September 11. This model, known internationally as the Cloud EV and available in markets like Indonesia, will be rebranded for India.
The Windsor EV, which is internationally recognized as the Wuling Cloud EV, offers two battery options: a 37.9kWh and a 50.6kWh, which deliver estimated ranges of 360km and 460km respectively. It features a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor generating 134hp, though it remains to be seen which battery configuration will be launched in India.
Designed as a hybrid between a substantial hatchback and an MPV, the Windsor EV measures approximately 4.3 meters in length with a wheelbase of 2,700mm. Despite its MPV-like appearance and dimensions, it will only be available in a 5-seat configuration.
Internally, the vehicle boasts a large floating touchscreen interface with minimal physical controls. MG has also confirmed that the interior will include rear AC vents, a three-passenger rear bench with individual three-point seat belts, a central armrest in the rear, and faux leather upholstery embellished with prominent honeycomb pattern stitching. Additionally, the rear seats can recline up to 135 degrees.
Priced under Rs 20 lakh, the MG Windsor EV is strategically positioned just below the ZS EV in MG’s electric lineup, competing against alternatives like the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and the newly introduced Tata Curvv EV.
