Global clean energy consulting firm Mercom Capital Group has listed the top global large-scale solar PV developers in its latest report. Spanning the time period from July 2020 to June 2021, the report analysed only those developers with projects in at least two countries. The report is titled- 2021 Leading Global Large-Scale Solar PV Developers.
The Italian giant Enel Green Power leads in the global solar PV market given its 4.95 GW of operational capacity. Adani Green Energy from India closely follows with a capacity of 4.91 GW. Engie, a French company comes third on the list with its operational capacity of 3.47 GW.
The Asia-Pacific (APAC) region made up about 24% of the top 10 global solar developers’ capacity; North America stood at about 18%; and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) at about 20%. Approximately 38% of projects were sited in Latin America.
The report stated, “Despite lockdowns, labour shortages, and supply chain issues associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, top solar developers overcame these challenges and continued to expand in mature and emerging markets at an unprecedented pace.”
