Kelei Shen has been appointed to spearhead Marelli’s business operations in China, which is recognized as the largest and most vibrant automotive market. In this capacity, Shen will join the Global Executive Committee and report directly to Marelli’s CEO. Additionally, he will serve on the China Board under the supervision of the Chairman of the Marelli China Board. Shen’s base of operations will be in Shanghai.
Marelli, a prominent supplier of global mobility technology, has announced the appointment of Kelei Shen as Executive Vice President and President of China, effective from July 1, 2024. Shen is set to propel Marelli’s ambitious expansion strategies in China, concentrating on several critical areas: growth, innovation, operational and financial efficacy, commercial excellence, cross-selling initiatives, and bolstering employee engagement.
In his new capacity, Shen will take the helm of Marelli’s business ventures in China, which is celebrated as the most expansive and vibrant automotive market globally. As part of his responsibilities, he will join the Global Executive Committee, where he will report directly to Marelli’s CEO, and will also hold a position on the China Board, under the oversight of the Chairman of the Marelli China Board. Shanghai will serve as his operational base.
Prior to his engagement with Marelli, Kelei Shen built a robust career in the automotive industry. His most recent role was as Chief Technology Officer at Harman International, a position he held from 2019 until his transition to Marelli in 2024. From 2016 to 2019, Shen led Magna Electronics as its President. His earlier career includes significant tenure at Harman International, where he served in various senior roles from 2006 to 2016, as well as positions at Siemens VDO and DSP Technology. Shen is also academically accomplished, holding a Master’s degree in computer science from Eastern Michigan University.

Kelei Shen will be succeeding Dr. David Fan, who has decided to depart from Marelli. In reflecting on Dr. Fan’s contributions, Slump expressed gratitude for his leadership and significant contributions over the years, acknowledging that Dr. Fan’s efforts have effectively positioned Marelli for continued growth and success in China.
